Types of learning

There are many types of learning that you can undertake and we hope to help you with all of them here.

  1. Formal learning – This is formal education, such as a diploma or certificate.
  2. Non-formal learning – This is often embedded planned activities such as learning new tasks at work.
  3. Informal learning – These result from daily life activities related to family, work or leisure.  For example, learning a new hobby or skill at home – cooking, cleaning, golfing, how to use the remote…

Benefits of learning

There are so many benefits of learning that can not be underestimated.  First and foremost, the overall ability to cope with life – in more ways than one.

  1. Improved memory – Ongoing learning benefits our physical and mental health.  It helps improve our memory and has shown that people that continually learn and have more education are less likely to have dementia.
  2. Improved confidence – When we challenge ourselves by learning new things, it pushes us and helps with gaining confidence in our ability to learn new things. It also then helps us feel confident to share these learnings with others.
  3. Improved interpersonal skills – When we are learning we are engaging in life and when we learn new things we can share this information with others and this enhances our relationships.
  4. Better career opportunities – If you want to move up in the ranks at work, it is very likely you will need to improve your skills.
  5. Improved communication skills – Learning generally improves the ability to read, listen and write, which are all essential skills in the ability to communicate.  Either in writing emails, letters, reports or speaking face to face delivering findings.
  6. Helps make the world a better place – By learning new things continuously, we can add more value back into society and the world around us.
